One option is to enter an intermediate-level apprenticeship in the furniture industry or in carpentry and joinery. A few General Certificate of Education (GCSE) passes are required for most intermediate apprenticeships.
To become a master craftsman, one has to go through these three phases.
Phase 1: Trainee/apprentice craftsman.
Phase 2: Journeyman. After completing your apprenticeship, you would be eligible to enter the workforce.
Phase 3: Master craftsman. If you're skilled enough, you can join a guild.
To put it simply, a carpenter constructs. Skilled hands make the work of an artist. In contrast to the average worker, craftsmen aren't as concerned with how quickly they can get their tasks done. Craftsmen are much more concerned about what they are making than how quickly they complete it.
