A starter can work as a plasterer's apprentice. Some firms prefer candidates with on-the-job construction expertise but are willing to overlook a lack of formal education.
Plastering takes on average two years to learn as an apprentice. You can move up to a Level 3 qualification if your workplace gives you the opportunities you need to succeed.
As most plasterers also aren't painters, you'll either have to do the painting yourself or hire someone else to do it. Get some guidance from the folks at the paint store if you're not sure what kind of paint you need.
Plastering may be strenuous labor; therefore, it helps to be in reasonably good physical shape. You'll never be bored in this line of work because plaster is needed in so many different types of construction, from homes to offices.
