A second option would be to cover the pond with a lattice or grill cover. Additionally, preventing minors from stumbling into the pond. Mesh/grill covers must be able to sustain a child's weight without sinking beneath the pond's surface.

Never swim alone; always swim in the presence of lifeguards and water observers. Wear a Coast Guard-approved life device that is appropriate for your weight, size, and water activity. Always wear a life vest while on watercraft, regardless of swimming ability. Swim sober.
Restrict the access of infants to water. Put a barrier between your child and any water sources. If you cannot create a child-safe play area without water, you cannot create a child-safe play area. Teach children about water safety.
