Mortar can degrade over time due to exposure to moisture, erosion, or stone movement. Repointing is the restoration of mortar deterioration.
Repairing and reusing existing structures makes more efficient use of energy and material resources and reduces waste. There is no need to create new materials or dispose of demolished materials. Plus, energy for reconstruction is preserved. In addition, the destruction of buildings discharges toxins and pollutants into the environment.
Restoration and Repair: The Owner shall pay for all trees, vegetation, and other artificial or natural landscape features that are to be preserved and marred or damaged by the Contractor's equipment.
Typically, restoration techniques employ natural materials such as rocks, logs, and native plants to slow down the stormwater flow and restore the natural meandering pattern of curves found in stable streams. Equipment or operations shall be rectified and returned to their original condition at the Contractor's expense.
