Laminate flooring is a type of floating floor since it does not need to be nailed or otherwise fastened to the subfloor or underlayment. Installing laminate flooring is a lot like putting together a big puzzle, and it should take, at most, a day for the average space.
Start by ripping out the baseboards and shoe moulding. Then, ensure the floor is clean and level; installation on an uneven surface might cause the laminate to buckle and split at the joints. Over a distance of 10 feet, tolerances are 1/4 inch to 3/8 inch.
Accurately measuring the room's floor size is crucial for determining how many laminate boards are needed to cover the space. It is recommended to purchase laminate boards with a total area 10 per cent larger than the room size.
Put down your first row of boards parallel to a straight wall. The first board in the row should be a half-size one. Keep a gap of 10 millimetres away from the wall by using spacers.
